Teacher Leader
Overview
There are three pathways that lead to the Teacher Leader Endorsement on an Illinois’ Professional Educator License:
- Master’s program
- Specialist’s program for students who already hold a master’s degree
- Post-Master's Certificate – Teacher Leader for students who already hold a master’s degree
This two-year program can be completed in its entirety by taking courses one evening per week or one Saturday a month, with the exception of the summer term. Students choosing to take classes on Saturday will be required to come to campus four times per semester.
What can I do with a teacher leader endorsement?
Completion of the teacher leader program (endorsement, master’s or specialist) ordinarily satisfies Illinois requirements for the associated endorsement. The teacher leader endorsement prepares professionals to assume a variety of building-level leadership roles. Courses are generally acceptable for certification in other states.
